At Salt Spring Veterinary Clinic, we offer comprehensive and cost-effective pet health solutions for our furry family members. Our experienced team is committed to providing veterinary care, ensuring your pets lead healthy, happy lives with personalized medical attention and wellness plans.
Our practice, Salt Spring Veterinary Services, is located on the north end of Salt Spring Island on our family farm. My grandfather, Jesse Bond, purchased this land in 1930 after returning from the First World War. Jesse’s son, Malcolm, born and raised on Salt Spring, completed his undergraduate studies and pursued veterinary medicine following his father's suggestion. My father graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1969 and returned to his birthplace in 1994 after a successful 22-year career at the Langley Animal Clinic. His initial intent was to continue farming; however, he began offering veterinary care word of mouth shortly thereafter in 1995 the practice was established. Fast forward to 2004, when my father asked me to “cover” the practice for him, and here we are today, more than 20 years later. My parents retired from the practice in 2021, and I now operate Salt Spring Veterinary Services as a solo practitioner while continuing to accept new patients and provide pet health solutions for our community.
I am happy to announce that our family's commitment to veterinary care is ongoing, with Mia Bond—granddaughter of Malcolm and Stephanie, and daughter to Julie and I — part of the graduating class of 2029 at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. She intends to uphold the family tradition of delivering quality veterinary care to the Salt Spring Island community.
Meanwhile, the farm continues to thrive through the hard work of my brother Andrew, who is dedicated to growing produce and raising livestock for sale to the local community.
